Sexy Leg Tattooes

When looking for a good leg tattoo design, there are two points you need to realize. Actually, they are more like tips, and I will share them with you. There are just too many websites with nothing but generic, cookie cutter designs out there and people are not finding the truly superb artwork. You might want to remember these tips when looking for the leg tattoo design you really want.
leg tattoo

Tip 1 - Always, always take your time when looking for tattoos on the internet. I have seen to many people and read too many horror stories about people getting tattooed with artwork that they end up hating. There are two main reason this happens and could happen to you when looking for a leg tattoo design.

Reason number one is because people are making rushed decisions. This is never a good idea when looking for tattoos, simply because this excitement quickly wears off, but by that time, many people have already ran to the parlor to get tattooed with that piece of art. It is these impulse decisions that come back to haunt many people.

Reason number two is because people want to get tattooed with designs that are "in" or "cool". They find tattoos (in your case it might be a leg tattoo design) that other men and women will think is cool and run to get it inked. They don't take into consideration what they truly want and instead think only about what other people might think about it. In the long run, you are always better off getting a leg tattoo design that "you" truly like and don't let outside influences alter your judgment.

Tip 2 - You are probably looking for a leg tattoo design the wrong way. You are probably saying to yourself, "What does that mean?" Well, it means that the way you are searching for tattoos is probably not leading you to places that have fresh, quality artwork. 95% of people will strictly use search engines, which is most likely the path you are taking also.

If you use them to locate a good leg tattoo design, you will instead get a list of low end galleries and all of these places usually have generic, cookie cutter tattoos. Most people don't even realize this and instead take it for what it is. They think this is all they have to choose form and end up picking one of those generic designs, because all galleries are going to have the same kind of artwork. Not all galleries are stuffed with only generic designs. It's just that this is all search engines show you.

What you need is a better way to find the good leg tattoo design you want. What's the best way to accomplish this? By using internet forums. It's the easiest, most reliable way to find all of the truly great galleries you've been failing to get a hold of. The larger forums are always going to be filled with past topics on the subject of tattoos. To find a good leg tattoo design, simply skim through some of these topics and you will be able to find link after link to some of the better galleries other people have uncovered. It's a fantastic way to work your way to the superb artwork search engines always fail to show you. It's as simple as that

Happy Tattoo Day

Actually, this post from 2012 was originally called Happy Valentine's from Tattoos day! But, it's the 13th, so we can't really use the same title now, can we?

In fact, this is a re-post of a re-post from July of 2008, and it is one of my favorite tattoos from over the years. I'm happy to be re-sharing it with new readers...
Lacking any new material for this holiday o' love, I'm re-posting an old favorite that seems to be in the theme. Well, at least there's a heart in it.
I just love the way, in this photo, that Cait's hand is positioned as she is pulling her blouse back to reveal the whole tattoo...

"I asked her if she'd be willing to share, and she did. She peeled back a little of her top to reveal this beautiful piece on the top left side of her chest:

Cait and her friend Michelle have birthdays two days apart. When they turned 18, they took a design that Michelle had crafted to Da Vinci Tattoo Studio in Wantagh, New York. The artist she remembered as "Yoshi" inked matching pieces for the two.

Cait says the heart that encases the colorful stars represents their friendship, and serves to remind them of the bond. In the event that life ever separates them, the tattoos will link them, no matter where they are.
Work from Da Vinci Tattoo Studio has appeared on Tattoosday before here.
Thanks to Cait for sharing her ink with us here at Tattoosday!
The original post is here.
Here's hoping the day is everything you expect it to be!

Marilyn Monroe Tattoo

Living in New York City, a metropolis known for its die-hard sports fans, it is not unusual to see tattoos honoring and celebrating the rich athletic tradition that exists here.

On Friday, during my lunch hour, I spotted a New York City Fire Department truck parked at the corner of 40th Street and 7th Avenue. Standing along side it was Johnny, one of New York's bravest, enjoying the warm weather, in shorts, and baring this incredible leg tattoo:

This is, of course, Marilyn Monroe, but with a twist. She is sporting the New York Yankees   jersey of one of the franchise's greatest players, Joe DiMaggio, to whom she was married for less than a year.

Johnny is a huge Yankee fan, and also loves Marilyn Monroe, one of the iconic figures of the 20th century, and among the most popular celebrities tattooed. I have featured Marilyn tattoos previously here and here.

The image is based on a lithograph that Johnny purchased at a FanFest in 1996. After having it tattooed on his right calf, he felt something was missing.

He contacted the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown, New York, and purchased an archival photograph of the original Yankee Stadium, circa 1923. This was then used as the source material to create the recognizable backdrop for Marilyn.

Johnny has a ton of tattoos, approximately 15 pieces in all. This one, along with others he has, was created by Cort Bengston at Cort's Royal Ink Tattoo Studio in Patchogue, New York.

Queen Street Tattoo

Back in 2010, Valentine's fell on a Sunday, which provided a excellent opportunity for my lovely wife Melanie to add to her tattoo collection. A lot of shops do special day promotions for the budget-minded, although the trend seems to be moving away from that.

On this Valentine's Day, we here at Tattoosday are re-visiting that occasion three years ago. Please Note: Thicker Than Water, the shop involved, is NOT doing the promotion this year. I did find shops in San Diego (Nittis Tattoo locations) that are doing it this year, but I'm not aware of any NYC-based specials.

So what does an inkblogger get his sweetheart on Valentine's Day?
Why, a love-themed tattoo, of course.
Lucky me, the good folks over at Thicker than Water Tattoo had a Cupid special, $14 tattoos on February 14.

A lot like the Dare Devil Tattoo Friday the 13th Special (one of which is documented here), the lucky tattoo recipient can choose from an assortment of day-themed flash.

Here's what my lovely bride Melanie had to choose from:

When we got to the shop, Melanie signed in #53, and they were averaging a dozen or so per hour, so we knew we had a little bit of a wait.
I specifically selected Shon Lindauer, since he did such an awesome job with my tiger tattoo.
It was nice that Melanie got to meet Shon and the piece she selected was one that he had drawn up.
He tattooed her in the middle of the back and took just about fifteen minutes:

She was very happy with the end result:

When we left around 3:45, the waiting list was over a hundred, so they looked like they had a long night ahead of them.
Thanks to Shon and the staff at Thicker Than Water for another great tattoo experience If you're looking for Shon, he is currently settling down at his new shop, Queen Street Tattoo in Honolulu!
Happy Valentine's Day everyone!

Amazing Tattoo girls

19 Year Old Amina, Posted Letter Tattoos

Campaigners including Richard Dawkins have called for a day of action to support a young Tunisian woman who appeared to post pictures of herself topless as part of a feminist movement in the country, and was subsequently threatened with death by stoning.

The 19-year-old activist, identified only as Amina, posted on the Femen-Tunisian Facebook page a topless picture of herself with the words “F**k your morals” written across her chest.

Another controversial image followed, of the woman smoking a cigarette, baring her breasts, with the Arabic written across her chest: “My body belongs to me, and is not the source of anyone’s honour”.

Tunisian newspaper Kapitalis quoted the Wahabi Salafi preacher Almi Adel, who heads the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, saying: “The young lady should be punished according to sharia, with 80 to 100 lashes, but [because of] the severity of the act she has committed, she deserves be stoned to death.

“Her act could bring about an epidemic. It could be contagious and give ideas to other women. It is therefore necessary to isolate [the incident]. I wish her to be healed.”

If she committed the offense in Tunisia, Amina could be punished by up to two years in prison and a fine of 100 to 1,000 dinars [between £40 and £400], local media said.

Christopher's Tattoo Bridges Generations

Last Friday I met Christopher on Penn Plaza. He estimated that he had tattoos numbering in the mid-fifties.Again, I am sometimes intimidated by folks with a lot of ink, and will usually not trouble them, but not this time.
And, of all those tattoos, Christopher lifted up his shirt to reveal one of his most meaningful pieces:

The cross with angel wings behind it is graced by a banner that reads "In Loving Memory ... Grandpa Al".

This tribute tattoo was inked at Good Times Tattoo Studio in East Islip, New York by Bill. Christopher is a tattoo artist there as well.
Grandpa Al was a tattoo artist himself, at Ace Tattoo in San Diego, one of the oldest shops in the city (founded around 1947). I acknolwedged that Al must have been busy working in San Diego, with several military bases nearby.
Christopher always knew he wanted to be an artist, and has been tattooing about 14 years.
"What about your Dad," I asked him, "is he an artist?"
Christopher shook his head and said he wasn't. "And he doesn't have a single tattoo. Not one!"
"Really?" I asked.
He shook his head and laughed "I just don't understand it."
So the ink-lination to tattoo skipped a generation in his family, but you could tell he was proud of his grandfather's legacy, and he bore it like a badge of honor.
Thanks so much to Christopher for sharing his tribute to Grandpa Al here on Tattoos day!

Tattoo in the Chinese History

Tattoo in the Chinese History, Tattoo is called "Wen Shen" or "Ci Shen" in Chinese. The term means literally "puncture the body".

Tattoo has been known and practised in China for many years. Many years ago, when a court finds a person guilty of a severe crime, it may order a tattoo be placed on his face, and bannishes him to a far-way place for a number of years. The tattoo on the face permantly marks the person as a criminal. The two-prone punishment is called "ci pei" (tattoo/exile).

Dragon Tattoo Design

Dragons were said to represent the Four Elements, hence the stories and myths of dragons who had dominion over Air, Water, Earth and Fire.
The Dragon tattoo design symbolizes nobility, magic, the power of transformation and imagination, perseverance, loyalty, power & the ability to transcend the ordinary.
For those who conquer dragons, the dragon represents courage, bravery, duty, honour & the
great quest.

Justin Bieber Tattoo Collections

Justin Bieber loves getting new tattoos, and hopefully one day he’ll have a manly body to justify all the ink. (He doesn’t exactly look like the “swaggy adult” he claims to be... )
The 18-year-old pop star debuted his latest tat in February — an “X” on his left forearm. The possibly religious symbol is Justin’s 10th in a motley collection of equally permanent designs.
Credit: Caroline McCredie/Getty Images; A. Ariani/Splash News
Here’s the quickie rundown of the Biebs’s body art:

- “Believe” on his left arm
- The outline of a seagull on his hip
- “Jesus” in Hebrew on his ribcage
- An image of Jesus on his left calf
- Praying hands on his left leg
- The Japanese Kanji symbol for “music” on his right arm
- An owl on his left forearm
- A crown on his right collarbone
- The logo for the Stratford Cullitons, a Canadian junior ice hockey team
- An “X” on his left forearm

If Justin is anything like Rihanna and Chris Brown, this list will keep on growing.

And now for an amusing anecdote: When Justin revealed his “Believe” tattoo during a late-June appearance on the Late Show, disapproving host David Letterman asked the singer to try to avoid looking like the Sistine Chapel. Bieber replied (via Us Weekly), “I'm not going for the Sixteenth Chapel look.”

“Canadian high school,” quipped Letterman.

Jenna Piercings Collections

Sweet baby Jesus I get asked about these all the time.  First of all, everything that is in these pictures is all I have, no secret piercings/tattoos, nothing you have to be special to see, so don’t worry you’re not missing out.  Here we go:
Left ear (pictured above):
  • 2 lobe piercings, both done with guns.  There’s no earring in the 2nd hole but it is right next to it.  I think I was six when I got my first hole second hole was in 2001.
  • Tragus piercing.  I got this done in 2002 with a 14 gauge needle and captive bead ring.  The piercing itself was less painful than I had anticipated it to be.  Apparently there is a “pop” sound for many people when they have it done, but I did not experience that.  Since this was a cartilage piercing, I was ready for the much longer healing process than that of just skin, like a lobe, as I had already gotten a cartilage piercing on the other side.  I did a good job cleaning, soaking, and caring for it and after 4 months the soreness had dissipated completely.  The soreness I would rank on the same level as an upper cartilage piercing, just in a weirder place .  I wouldn’t sleep, use the phone or headphones on that side to avoid getting a keloid or big bump of scar tissue around the hole, and it healed perfectly.  I have put different jewelry in it in the past, studs, circular barbells, etc.  The earring that has been in it for the past several years is a circular barbell with one side a spike pictured below, the other side a blue ball.  Only because I had lost the other spike and blue ball…. I made a mix.  I’m also retarded.
 Right Ear :
First and second lobe piercings same as described above.
Upper cartilage piercing done at the same time as my second holes in 2001 with a gun (bad I know), but wound up healing just fine after around 6 months with good care. Conch piercing.  I got this done in 2003 with a 12 gauge hollow needle.  The piercing itself is pretty painful, it is a very thick piece of cartilage (I like to say a conch is when you “pierce your whole ear” … I guess it sounds funnier when I say it out loud.  Imagine it in my voice.  Okay now laugh).  Since it was done with a hollow needle, the piercer tapped the piece of my ear that was removed onto the table and asked me if I wanted to keep it, I said fuck no get it out of my face.  Recently someone with a significant amount of body modifications asked me if I ate it.  Apparently people do that?? THE FUCK?  I took very good care of this piercing, but because it’s basically the center of your entire ear, it got knocked around a lot.  Everything I did seemed to hurt my ear (you never realize how much things touch your ears until you piece the whole fucking thing).  It took a full year to heal and not be sore, so getting this pierced is kind of a commitment.  I did develop a small keloid around it which is still there and will be forever, but hardly noticeable.  If you are considering getting this done just make sure you are ready to take care of it.  Cleaning it is only half the battle.  This piercing really takes a conscious effort not to bump it with every day objects.  Mindlessly brushing your hair in the morning and accidentally catching it 5 months after you get it pierced can irritate it enough to develop a keloid that will never heal, so it’s kind of a big deal. Not to mention when I take the hoop out there’s a gaping hole in the middle of the cartilage that will never close.  You know, just some things to consider if you are interested in it.  I’m still very much in love with this piercing and my others even though they were done around ten years ago.  The earring in this is actually the original one it was pierced with and I have never changed it because I think it’s the tits.

Daisy Shares a Horse Tattoo

Way back in January 2012, I was reading an article in The New York Times called "Continuing Education, At the Bar" which reported on the growing popularity of educational events in NYC watering holes, citing "The Secret Science Club" as one of the more popular of these phenomena.

The club's Carnivorous Nights annual Taxidermy Contest was the event that really stood out, and the Times article was accompanied by a slide show, featuring club members posing with their contest entries.

Several participants were sporting tattoos. As it was January, a "slow" time of year for Tattoosday, I thought it would be cool to perhaps reach out to some of these individuals and see if anyone might be interested. It could be a new series of sorts, say "Inkspotting in the Media," for lack of a better term.

One person I selected was Daisy Tainton:

I noticed she had a tattoo on her arm and, well, she looked pretty cool, so I found her on Facebook, and sent her a message inviting her to be on Tattoosday.

I didn't hear back from her until eight months later, last September, with a note apologizing that it took so long to respond, but my message had been delegated to one of Facebook's sub-folders.

To make a long story longer, the passed time had addled my memory, and I thought Daisy was a straggling tattooed poet, who was responding to one of my inquiries for the Tattooed Poets Project, for which I send out numerous inquiries every year. I politely told her I would reach out to her in the winter, when I started working on the following April's installment.

Well, ultimately, this was all sorted out, but only after Daisy had sent me photos of a tattoo on her upper left arm, just shortly after it had been inked:

Here's the tattoo in better detail:

Daisy explains:
"I saw a lamp in the window of Housing Works, snapped a photo through the grate (they were closed and the items in the window were to be sold upon store opening) and sent it to my good friend Nathan Burke. He drew it as a tattoo, and my boyfriend at the time fine-tuned it before I took it to Annie [Lloyd] and Three Kings Tattoo [in Brooklyn]."
Daisy tells us:
"I am an Insect Preparator at the American Museum of Natural History. I love insect jewelry because it showcases nature's beauty and bounty -- and I feel good about using beetles that were farm raised instead of harvested wild. This way they get to live their full lives in peace and then live on as exquisite adornments in loving homes.
In addition, I have the pleasure of being a yearly entrant and award-winner in the Carnivorous NightsBrooklyn Taxidermy Contest, where in years past I have displayed many ridiculous and whimsical items ranging from beetle dioramas to antique fur coat sculptures to jewelry."

Cross Symbolic Tattoos

Tattoos are becoming a craze among the youngsters nowadays. Tattoos might be permanent tattoos made by piercing and ingraining a non-removable dye or by raising scars or temporary tattoos made out of the herb called henna. The word tattoo is the derivative of the Tahitian term Tauta which means to mark. Cross tattoos are among the different types of tattoos.

Cross tattoos indicate different meanings. Even though these tattoos symbolizes the religion of Christianity, it is widely been used for several reasons.

Many Catholics and Christians use this tattoos in the belief that using cross tattoos would be the perfect way to express their faith in their religion. Catholic and Christian tattoo designs normally have the Latin cross, which has four spokes; with three spokes of equal length facing each other, and one long spoke pointing down. Some Catholic Christian crosses have a symbol representing the crucified Jesus Christ.

The Celtic tattoo is the combination of symbols like a circle and a Latin cross. The circle exists in the center, where the two lines in the Latin cross meet each other. The circle in the Celtic tattoos is refers the life circle view that life and death are a never-ending and cyclical process.
The Tattoos of Maltese has a cross shape like four v-shaped arms having the end facing inside and the eight corner points indicate honesty, glory, faithfulness, courageousness, helpfulness, piousness, disdain of death and respect for the church.

Gothic tattoos are heavily adorned and these tattoos normally have an iron texture. These crosses are normally combines with imaginary like barbed wire and daggers. These tattoos are used to express the anger and pain.

Iron cross tattoos are connected with German military. The symbol has four equal spikes that burn out at each end and was first used by the German military in the year 1870. In later years the symbol of iron cross was used as a decoration by the military during the times of wars.

Cross tattoos are also combines with the designs of other elements, which add personal meaning. Some images used in combination with theses tattoos are flowers, butterflies, stripes and stars, texts, verses from Bible, etc.

Memorial cross tattoos are becoming popular nowadays and these tattoos are used as a remembrance of some person who has left the world. This type of cross tattoos has a stone texture combined with the name and date of death of the person in remembrance of whom the tattoo is being used.
